FAQ
Q: What materials will you use to create my signs?
A: Each sign is hand painted on MDO (Medium Density Overlay) plywood. Because it’s attractive, durable, and treated to withstand the elements in high-moisture environments, we use:
MDO Plywood: A weather-resistant resin overlay is bonded to both surfaces of the wood by heat and pressure. The molecules of the overlay fuse with the fibers of the wood to form a bond as strong as the wood itself. This overlay resists water, weather, and wear. Paint finishes on MDO last as much as three times longer than the same finish applied to ordinary plywood. MDO, which is also called “sign board,” has an exceptionally smooth finish. These properties make it ideal for hand painted signs.
Each side is primed and painted with high quality, UV resistant, exterior grade paint. Edges are sealed, primed, and painted. We guarantee our signs and your satisfaction.
Q: Can you create custom signs?
A: Our process is as unique as you are. You can order a hand painted sign as pictured in the photo gallery, have one personalized, or have Lisa design one for you. Lisa is friendly, patient, and responsive. Sketches can be drawn up and discussed until you know you’ll be getting exactly the sign you want.
Q: How long will it take to fill my order?
A: Our signs are hand painted to order, so it takes two to eight weeks, depending on the time of year you order. Orders placed during our peak season — August through October — may be subject to a rush fee.
Q: How will my signs be shipped?
A: Most likely by freight line. Our preferred freight lines, with whom we’ve negotiated discounted rates, offer the lowest cost and best value on multi-sign orders. Small single-sign orders may be shipped by UPS or Federal Express. We sell and ship signs throughout the United States and Canada.
Q: I don’t own a farm, campground or RV park, but I really like your work. Can you create other types of signs?
A: Absolutely.
Q: How did you learn to paint, Lisa?
A: I’ve always loved to make things. I have a Bachelor’s in Fine Art and a Master’s in Arts, but painting has always come naturally to me. Getting to work with wood and power tools is a bonus.
Q: How did you get started in this business?
A: Several summers ago my son wanted to invite his teacher to our home for lunch. We had a lovely afternoon with Mrs. Ellms, who mentioned her farm was in need of some painting. I said I thought I could help, and the rest is history.
Q: Your beautiful signs are an exceptional value. How do you produce hand painted signs that are so affordable?
A: I believe the surest path to success in business and in life is to overdeliver.
Q: OK, I’m ready to place an order. What do I do?
A: Call or use the contact form to email your order. Note any special instructions — such as if you’d like your farm name on a photo op sign — and provide your shipping and email addresses, and phone number. A 25 percent deposit is required, the balance due before your signs are shipped. We accept checks, MasterCard, Visa and Discover. Shipping and handling, and sales tax for New York State clients, is calculated based on your shipping address.
Q: Lisa, what’s your favorite type of chocolate?
A: I will eat only two kinds: any and all chocolate.
